As, the folklore goes, sage vashishtha had asked Lord Rama to take a holy dip in the river Gomati to wash off all the committed sins during Ravana’s killing, this widely accepted belief coming of ages, substantiates the purity of the river Gomati. It is evident that the world’s renowned civilizations had flourished on the river banks only, so, Lucknow, India’s largest state’s capital had thrived on the same. But, the rapid industrialization and metropolitan expansion added to the high rang of contaminants in the river Gomati. Indiscriminate use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers in the farms add a colossal amount of pollutants. Empathically, ASCO, Lucknow has participated in the emancipation program (total cleaning of the river Gomati), such initiatives creates greater degree of inspiration and awareness about the restoration of our cultural and religious heritage.
